The National President of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities, Mr Samson Ugwoke said the strike will be total, alleging that its members
salaries have been withheld for two months, which is the reason for the
strike...
SSANU’s General Secretary, Promise Adesuwa, gave a directive that no member of the union should return to work until directed by the
national leadership.
Mr. Adesuwa said the union took the decision after its demand was
unattended to, following its letter to university Vice Chancellors, the
Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Pius Anyim; Minster of
Labour and Productivity, Emeka Wogu; Minister of Education, Nyesom Wike;
and Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission, Julius
Okojie.
Already, university lecturers, ASUU, have been on a nationwide strike
for three months demanding that the federal government implements a
2009 agreement it had with the union.
